Weekend Links

It's a blustery, rainy day here and I'm curled up in bed (with a cup of cocoa, of course!) alternately reading articles and my textbooks! Here's what I'm loving right now!

Mindy Kaling wrote a hilarious article about the women you find in romantic comedies.

The J.Crew tumblr. I'm obsessed with it. I loved these looks and the best part is they have tutorials!

The Kitten Eye

Confession: I am a complete klutz when it comes to eyeliner.

So, when my sister told me about kitten eyes I didn't get particularly excited because I knew I'd end up looking like a pirate if I attempted it.

(In case you're unfamiliar with kitten eyes, it's the baby sister of cat eyes. Friendly for daytime and girls who don't like to wear pounds of eye make up! Apparently, it's all the rage with Angelina Jolie and Rihanna? Hmm.)

Fast forward a week. I'm still thinking about kitten eyes. I Google "kitten eye makeup" (Harmless, right? Wrong.) Let me tell you, there are some scary tutorials out there. Line with pencil and then with liquid liner. Put scotch tape on your face. What?

And then I found this.

The girl is a little redundant. And you can probably skip to 1:05. But at the end I got it! And now I can do a kitten eye! If you're already competent with eyeliner, this video is a little more concise!

Tip: When you draw the line, start at the outer corner of your eyes and just extend the line of your bottom lid.

P.S. - I stumbled across 5 Takes On Cat Eye Make-Up  while researching kitten eyes and love it too :)

Still Hung Up...

I know, I know, everyone else has moved onto Milan, but I'm still ooh-ing and aahh-ing over New York Fashion Week. It was just so wonderful! Anyway, fueling my obsession are these watercolors by Samantha Hahn...

Autumn Treats

I love to bake but it's especially nice to bake when it's a little chilly outside and you can curl up with a book and a warm drink and a freshly baked treat.

I always love Vera Wang's collections, and this year was no exception. Fingers crossed that we all get to wear one of these someday :)

A Lakeside Picnic

The end of summer is creeping up, and after a long week of classes it was time to squeeze in one last day at the lake.

We stopped by the grocery store on the way to pick up a rotisserie chicken, tortillas and specialty sodas. We lunched and lounged - it was absolutely glorious! After dark there was live music and we danced on the dock. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to summer!

Flared Jeans

So, it seems that after years of skinny jeans dominating flared jeans are coming back!

Fashion-makers like Kate Moss, Zoe Saldana and Rachel Zoe have been sporting them (click here to see for yourself).

Do you have flared jeans? Would you wear them? I have two pairs that I absolutely adore!

I think they're going to look so chic with Fall layering and booties!

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind! Since I'm one of those obnoxious people who's constantly taking photos I thought I'd share some of my adventures with you!

Closet organizing, a little decorating and making an art wall - generally moving in.

Eating ice cream. On a daily basis.

Working in the gallery we're so happy to have George Rodrigue paintings!

Life After Labor Day

Whether or not you're a traditionalist and subscribe to the "No white after Labor Day," rule, you can't deny that fashion changes after Labor Day. We start slipping on sweaters and pulling on booties.

I'm loving these casual fall looks and looking forward to digging out my chilly-weather staples this week!

P.S. - Unfortunately, I don't get Labor Day off, but what are you up to today? I'm living vicariously!
